At last, the fate of the Fountain Theatre in Mesilla is known. After an epic of sales negotiations, hearsay, offers and counter offers, the Fountain Theatre - and the Mesilla Valley Film Society that resides within it - will be staying put. On December 26, 2007, Anna Emerick-Biad and Chris Biad, husband and wife, finalized the purchase of the Fountain Theatre from Lucille Fountain Valentine. Anna Emerick-Biad is the president of Emerick Real Estate, Inc. and Chris Biad is a partner/owner of Biad Chili LTD. The new owners, who are native New Mexicans, are happy to take over the theatre and plan to do their part to preserve its history.

The couple has leased the property to the Mesilla Valley Film Society, who will continue to show alternative, foreign and independent films. In addition, Emerick-Biad and Biad wish to start a nonprofit organization that will oversee the upkeep and preservation of the theatre.
